Anibal E. Morales is an undergraduate student at Florida International University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He is proud of being a Ronald E. McNair and Department of Energy (DOE) Fellow at FIU. Mr. Morales enjoys attending international engineering programs, gaining multicultural knowledge and experience. He has been able to volunteer in Puerto Rico for environmental issues, attend an engineering program in China for power distribution, and study abroad in Iceland for renewable energy and sustainability. His greatest achievement includes attending the Noble Lectures at Stockholm University in Sweden, where he met with the Nobel committees and first learned about the importance of scientific research.
In the DOE Fellows Program, Mr. Morales works in the ARC Sensors and Robotics Laboratory, developing inspection tools and robotic platforms for the deactivation and decommissioning (D&D) of radioactive facilities across the United States. His career goal includes applying robotics for environmental cleanup and nuclear contamination mitigation. He aspires to be a professional engineer for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Austria, Vienna. Anibal plans to graduate in May 2019 and wishes to advance his education with a Ph.D. in electrical engineering.
