Carolyn Cooke graduated from Tennessee Technological University in spring 2023 with Bachelor of Science degrees in chemistry and environmental and sustainability studies. She is now a graduate student at Florida International University pursuing her Ph.D. in environmental chemistry under the mentorship of Dr. Yong Cai. She is also a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Fellow at FIU’s Applied Research Center (ARC) working under the guidance of Dr. Ravi Gudavalli. Her research area focuses on the fate and transport of iodine in the environment, and on the use of amendments such as organoclays PM-199 and MRM in the attenuation of iodine in contaminated areas.
