Derek Gabaldon (Mechanical Engineering)

Derek Gabaldon is an undergraduate student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering at Florida International University (FIU). Derek’s professional interests include applied mechanics, robotics, and engineering design. He is the current vice president of Engineers Without Borders (EWB) at FIU and an active member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) FIU student chapters. Derek will be working with the Department of Energy’s Office of Environmental Management under the mentorship of Joseph Sinicrope to conduct research related to decommissioning and deactivation technology innovation.
