We are pleased to announce that the decision tool for prioritizing Surveillance and Maintenance investments developed by DOE Fellow Ms. Leydi Velez was featured in the Office of Deactivation and Decommissioning and Facility Engineering’s fall quarterly newsletter. This newsletter is designed to help keep the Environmental Management’s Deactivation and Decommissioning and Facility Engineering communities informed of highlights in technical developments, initiatives, and assistive resources that may be of interest to them. Leydi began working on the decision support tool during her summer internship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and she has continued her support while working at the Applied Research Center. The main objective of this tool is to help facility S&M Managers effectively prioritize maintenance expenditures in excess facilities. The tool is based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process to calculate the weight of importance of defined risk criteria and general S&M activities by means of a pair-wise comparison technique.
