Douglas Baptiste (Civil Engineering)

Douglas Baptiste is an undergraduate student at Florida International University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Department of Energy (DOE) Fellow at FIU’s Applied Research Center (ARC). After graduating with his bachelor’s degree, Douglas plans to continue his education by pursuing a master’s degree. Douglas interests include Sustainability and Eco-friendly engineering, sustainable site developments, and the use of alternative materials for the construction of eco-friendly structures. Douglas Baptiste is currently a student member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). He is currently working under the mentorship of Dr. Mayren Echeverria and is researching the aging processes of concrete samples to resemble the conditions within the H-Canyon Exhaust Tunnel at Savannah River Site.
