Frances Elisa Zengotita (Chemistry)

Frances Elisa Zengotita is currently an undergraduate student pursuing two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in English, along with a certificate in exile studies. Prior to becoming a DOE Fellow, Frances was a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) scholar under the mentorship of Dr. Hilary Emerson. She expects to graduate in the spring of 2018 and pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry.

DOE Related Projects
Frances Zengotita is a DOE Fellow at the Applied Research Center (ARC) under the mentorship of Dr. Hilary Emerson. Frances’s current project examines the absorption of neodymium into the dolomite mineral at variable ionic strength (NaCl +3mM bicarbonate). Her current project will help DOE update their risk assessment models for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP).
