Jose Vasquez (Environmental Engineering)

Jose Vasquez (Environmental Engineering)

About DOE Fellow:
Jose completed his Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from Florida International University and his Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Centroamericana UCA in El Salvador. His research interests include contamination in soil and water, alternative energies and project management.

DOE Related Projects:
Currently, Jose is working on an experiment in support of the remediation of uranium-contaminated groundwater at Hanford Site, Washington. This experiment will help to quantify the effects of different environmental conditions in the complexation of uranium with other chemicals. Jose did his Master’s thesis on the effects of pH and temperature on mercury volatilization.

Internships:
Jose did an internship in the Environmental Science division at Oak Ridge National Lab in Summer 2008. He studied mercury volatilization in water after adding a chemical reducer.
