Kanchana Iyer is was a Ph.D. Candidate in Biomedical Engineering. She has conducted her research under the support of the RISE Program, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Kanchana has been investigating blood compatibility of novel polymers and metal alloys, for potential use in cardiovascular devices. She has also been involved in the development of protocols for in vitro and in vivo experimentation of hemocompatibility, as no standardized protocols currently exist. Kanchana was a member of Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), Alpha Eta Mu Beta Biomedical Engineering Honor Society, and Golden Key International Honour Society. For the past 5 years, Kanchana has been an employee of the FDA.
