Maite Barroso (Civil Engineering)

Maite graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Concentration in Environmental Engineering. At FIU, she was also serving as the FIU Chapter Secretary of American Society of Civil Engineers. Her interests include water pollution control, and water and waste water treatment. For the past four year, Maite Barroso has been working as an EH&S Generalist at Sikorsky Aircraft.

 

DOE Related Projects
Maite is working under the supervision and mentoring of Dr. Yelena Katsenovich on Project # 2 Rapid Deployment of Engineered Solutions for Environmental Problems at Hanford, Task #4 Investigation of Uranium Contamination in Hanford Soil. Specifically, she is investigating the insolubility and immobility of uranium having precipitated or co-precipitated with aluminum and silicon by means of pH manipulation using NH3 and Silicon under site specific conditions, and helping with Task 4.1 Effect pf pH and Temperature on the Carbonate Promoted Disolution of Meta-Autonite.
