About DOE Fellow
Mrs. Mariela Silva graduated from Universidad Central de Venezuela with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering (2001) and finished a certification in operations research by 2006. Her bachelor’s degree thesis was to study the applications and advantages of a reversible invert emulsion in waste management operations. Her interests are in the operations research and project management fields. Mrs. Silva joined the DOE Fellows program in 2012, while pursuing her master’s degree in engineering management at Florida International University, under the mentorship and guidance of Peggy Shoffner. She successfully graduated with a master’s degree in fall 2013.  Upon graduation Mrs. Silva accepted an employment offer from ConocoPhillips as a Project Engineer. This position will provide project engineering support to the Lost Cabin Gas Plant (LCGP) including but not limited to feasibility, reliability, constructability analysis, as well as general facilities engineering as required.

DOE Related Projects
While a DOE Fellow, Ms. Silva worked in the design and implementation of a SharePoint based secured collaboration tool for project management activities that facilitated, among other tasks, the tracking and monitoring of milestones and deliverables for multiple projects, funded at a total of $4M, and to effectively document the progress of projects.
