Reann Nicolas is an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and a Department of Energy (DOE) Fellow at FIU’s Applied Research Center. Under the mentorship of Dr. Ravi Gudavalli, Reann channels her passion for environmental sustainability into impactful research areas, including sustainable infrastructure, waste management, and the development of eco-friendly structures. Her current research involves the sorption behavior of humic substances on uranium to support groundwater remediation strategies to deploy humate technology under varying site-specific conditions.
Beyond her current endeavors, Reann envisions a future where she plays a pivotal role as a Civil/Environmental engineer, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community. She is a driven advocate for positive change in the realm of civil engineering and environmental consciousness. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree, Reann plans to continue her education by pursuing a master’s degree.
