The Environmental Management Site-Specific Advisory Board Chairs Meeting was held in Oak Ridge, TN on April 28 and 29, 2010. Four DOE Fellows already at Oak Ridge doing internships (Jose Vasquez, William Mendez, Elsa Cabrejo and Mario Vargas) attended the first day of the meeting, where Dr Ines Triay and other speakers were presenting some important information about environmental activities of DOE-EM at different sites across the country. The Environmental Management Site-Specific Advisory Board (EM SSAB) is under the authority of the US Department of Energy, and has been created with the purpose to provide information, advise and recommendations to the Assistant Secretary for EM (Dr. Ines Triay) regarding clean-up standards, disposition, stabilization, and waste management, among other issues related to the specific sites. At the end of the presentations there was a discussion and questions session by people representing these sites and DOE representatives.

The four fellows were introduced to Dr Triay and Dr. Gerald Boyd (Oak Ridge Site Manager) and each DOE Fellow briefly explained their internship assignment at Oak Ridge. Later that day, Mr. John Eschenberg expressed to Dr. Triay his admiration for the work that our DOE Fellows are doing at DOE-EM at ORO.
